Understanding and Awareness

Being stereotyped is one of the worst feelings in the world. Imagine being classified a drug dealer due to your taste in fashion, people thinking you're an idiot, others fearing your presence not knowing of your essence. Prejudice thoughts about everyone from an area labeled the ghetto is destined for failure or share the faith gangbanger. A great example of stereotyping is back when I was attending college, the students automatically assumed that those from the Jane and Finch area were gangsters, which is far from true for I've been amongst people of Jane and Finch and it’s a mixture of good and bad people, like anywhere else on this God given planet.

These things are misunderstandings cast down on us by the media over time.  It warps the perception of outsiders. The problem isn't native to the area I grew up. Everyone from everywhere a ghetto exists could relate.  Unfortunately, this is the case.
