“UNCONVENTIONAL” 2017 is a project model that gives a voice to the young people living in Toronto, to tell their personal stories of the effect of stereotypes they have each experienced within and out of there community. Using both film and photography, the goals are two-fold; to promote pride and self-awareness amongst participants, as well as to create public awareness about the impact these experiences have had on and in the lives of these youth, including access to meaningful employment and establishing life goals. We aim to challenge the stereotypes of where these young people come from, and to give you a better understanding of their reality.
