Perception

PERCEPTION is a project model that gives young women from diverse backgrounds in the GTA the chance to share stories on how they see beauty and how they feel about the lack of beauty diversity. The word beauty can mean a lot of things and can be envisioned differently by many people. How society sees beauty can sometimes have an impact on relationships, encounters, or how someone perceives themselves. Beauty culture can also deeply impact experiences with sexism, victim-blaming, and controlling women's sexuality. Our participants have provided brave and honest statements on beauty and the impact of assumption, accompanied with a photograph showing these young women as they are. The pictures and the stories will serve to educate the public, demonstrate pride in beauty diversity and validate that PERCEPTION is defined by you.
