Understanding and Awareness

I’ve been told my life would be a book worth reading. I believe that’s true of all of us. I am the accumulation of all the roles I’ve held and all the dreams I’m working toward and all the hopes I’ve not yet uncovered. I am my character, my dedication, my passion, my integrity and my relationships with others and with the world around me. I am Mother, Sister, Daughter, Steward, Learner, and Provider. For as long as I can remember, since my early childhood growing up in chaos, it was important to me to be aware of the impact I made, the space I took up and how I affected or impacted other people. I imagine that today people look at me and have some preconceptions of who I am, where I’ve come from, what matters to me, and where I’m headed. I can’t say my life has been easy and smooth...but I can say that it has been colourful and interesting. I’ve made many decisions, both good and not-so-good, with each situation moving me forward on the journey to where and who I am today, to who I intend to be. Influenced by people, places, and moments, my values and my beliefs have strengthened and I have a better understanding of myself and the footprint that I’m leaving in the world. At the end of each day, I hope to have contributed, to have been somehow useful to someone else, in some way. To know that I lived my truth and stood by my values unapologetically, even when that meant I stood alone. How I identify, the person I understand myself to be, is organic and ever evolving. I am a work in progress. I am fluid and also consistent. I am expanding and also congruent. I am a seeker of peace, a developer of resilience. I am an experiential learner, open to offering to and gaining from the people and places I encounter.
