“I identify as an entity of great power”... I often say this to myself as a reminder of who I am now and where I come from. At the age of 20, I left my home in search of a better future, one where I would be able to make use of my full potential. I come from a very humble background, growing up in St. Lucia life was always about survival mode. My family did not have much, so exploring my creativity wasn’t an option. This is how life is for most youth growing up in situations and environments similar to mine. We were raised to go to school, get an education so we would be able to survive…not keeping in mind that there is so much more to a child’s future and personal growth than being brought up that way. I believe creativity and exploring ones creative side at a young age is just as important, since it is a time in our life where we shape our perceptions, making sense of the world and oneself in it. Right now I am studying Interactive Media Design at Seneca College, a program which explores most aspects of visual art and media design. It has photography to film, graphic design and web design, animation and UX design, as well as psychology and media design business. I am currently in my third semester with a year to go, whiles taking acting and film classes with other organizations outside of Seneca. I am also freelancing part-time in photography and videography.
